Wolfgang Hilbig was born 1941 in Meuselwitz near Leipzig. In 1985 he relocated to West Germany and today lives in Berlin. He was awarded numerous literary prizes, including the Georg-Büchner-Preis 2002. Formerly publications are the novels ›Das Provisorium‹, and ›Eine Übertragung‹, the narratives ›Die Weiber‹ and ›Alte Abdeckerei‹, as well as the poetry volumes ›die versprengung‹, ›abwesenheit‹ and ›Bilder vom Erzählen‹. Hilbig died 2007 in Berlin.
