How does Markus Poppinga end up in the Ben Ash restaurant in Manhattan? A former classmate claims to have seen him there – but Markus was found dead in his home on the island of Borkum three years ago. His parents identified his body without a shadow of doubt. His grieving mother wears his remains, pressed into a blue-shimmering diamond and cut into a heart shape, on a necklace. But who is the man the witness takes for Markus?
