About Christine Nöstlinger
Christine Nöstlinger was born in Vienna in 1936 and grew up in the working class suburbs of Vienna. There, her mother ran a nursery school and her grandfather had his own business. She later studied graphics, but was devoted entirely to writing since 1970. She published over one hundred books for children and teens that have been translated into many languages and loved by many. Her outstanding contribution to children’s literature was recognised when she was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Award and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for Literature. Christine Nöstlinger died 2018 in Vienna.
