‘My life is happy and successful, apart from the fact that I’m living in the wrong body.’ In November 2007 the high-ranking pole-vaulter Yvonne Buschbaum announced her upcoming sex change on television. For Balian, as he has called himself since then, this is the final step on the way to his true identity, for which he even sacrifices his Olympic dreams. Two years later he is ‘living his dream’ – writing in this sensitive and page-turning book about his life as a man in a woman’s body and his liberation from physical constraints.

About Balian Buschbaum

Balian Buschbaum, born in Ulm in 1980 as Yvonne, won bronze medals in European Athletic Championships in 1998 and 2002. Participating in the Olympic Games was just ahead when Buschbaum decided to have Sex Reassignment Surgery. He has never regretted this decision. On the contrary: his personal liberation has also given him unparalleled knowledge about the emotional world of women as well as men.
