Hilde Domin Herausgegeben von: Jan Bürger + Frank Druffner
Die Liebe im Exil
384 Pages, gebunden
After her death, Hilde Domin left behind her well over a thousand letters to and from her husband: passionate love messages and touching testimonies to their feelings of having lost their home and been abandoned. Her first exile in 1933 was Italy, the longed-for south, until Hitler’s race laws came into effect here too. The young couple’s involuntary journey took them next to England in 1939 and then on to the Caribbean, to Santo Domingo. There they set up home, rescued and trapped in equal measure, until their return to Germany in 1954.
Hilde Domin’s letters shed new light on her eventful life. Having earned distinction as a poet, she can now be discovered as a magnificent letter-writer, marking the hundredth anniversary of her birth on 27 July 2009.
