Village Princesses

Kirsten, aged sixteen, and her mother move to the latter’s home village, a dump to end all dumps, right in the middle of ...yes, you guessed it. While her mother seems to be wallowing in nostalgia, for Kirsten it’s a living hell. Until she makes friends with Patricia, that is, an eccentric outsider. Then one day Patricia’s gone, vanished into thin air. Everybody’s in a state of alarm, all the more so, as fifteen years ago another girl disappeared without a trace - never to come back again.

While the police descend on the village in a flurry of interviews and investigations, Kirsten leads her own private inquiry. When she finally finds her, Patricia is dead. But unlike that girl fifteen years ago, she did not fall victim to a crime, appearances to the contrary notwithstanding.
