Among lavish parties and Egyptian fever, Alma Täuber investigates - the second case for the telephone operator
Baden-Baden 1924. The whole city has been gripped by Egyptian fever ever since it became known that Verdi's Aida would be performed in the Kurhaus. The subsequent premiere celebration under the motto "Legends of the Nile" becomes a lavish highlight, only to come to an abrupt end when the tenor is found murdered.
The telephone operator Alma Täuber is horrified, as she herself was a guest at the celebration for which her friend Emmi had designed the equipment. Of all people, Emmi's friend and admirer August quickly becomes the main suspect. Emmi is desperate and Alma can't help but put out feelers.
She comes into close contact with dramas of jealousy, a difficult opera ensemble and ancient Egyptian artefacts. And despite warnings from detective inspector Ludwig Schiller, she puts herself in extreme danger.
