When Filine’s husband disappears without a trace just before the birth of their daughter Rhea, Filine moves on. She and Rhea open a little bed and breakfast on the North Sea island of Amrum. Years later, with Rhea grown up, their little inn is going well, but the rest of Rhea’s life is falling apart: her fiancé, with whom she had dreamed of starting a family, leaves her. When she gets an offer to redecorate a hotel far away from the island, she jumps at it. But soon, she starts to miss her home and the sound of the sea.
