The House Boat Detectives - Deadly Material

  • A squirrel, a dog and five charming amateur detectives
  • A feel-good crime thriller that you can sit back and enjoy
  • The third case in the Hausboot-Detektei series

Five amateur detectives. A grandma who loves knitting. A dangerous export business.
Amsterdam is an expensive place. Kaatje Hommel thinks so too. The old lady supplements her pension by selling hats she has knitted herself. Things are going great until a well-respected entrepreneur wants to ruin her business. Soon after, the man is found dead.

Arie, Maddie, Jack, Jan and Elin investigate and soon find out that behind the dead man's great fortune lies a crime that is at least as great. But what was the connection between him and Kaatje? And what does the famous fashion designer Bengt Bjerker have to do with it? Suddenly there is another body and the five amateur detectives must learn once again that it is sometimes very difficult to both obey the law and do the right thing.

Amy Achterop alias Heidi van Elderen owes her first visit to Amsterdam to a forgotten street map and a hopelessly bad sense of direction. That was back in 1999. The author, who was born on the Lower Rhine in 1980, immediately fell in love with the city and has returned regularly ever since, often accompanied by her Dutch husband. Heidi van Elderen has also lived in Portugal and New Zealand, but has meanwhile settled down with her family on a small farm in Sweden.
