At the end of June, the traditional midsummer bonfires are lit on the mountains in the Karwendel region to protect against evil. This year, however, the flames do not stop at the valleys. A car came off the road near Bad Tölz and completely burned out. Further fatal arson attacks follow. Chief Inspector Alexa Jahn and her Austrian colleague, Chief Inspector Bernhard Krammer, can't make sense of the offences. Who is setting these fires? And what is the motive behind them? Alexa knows that time is working against her, and an anonymous letter makes her worst fears come true.

Anna Schneider

Ever since she was a child, Anna Schneider has loved stories. She listened to the tales told by the guests at her grandmother's inn, and became especially interested when things got exciting. This is why it is not surprising that she developed a penchant for criminal cases and applied to the police force after graduating from high school. Luckily, she was rejected at the time, otherwise she might never have gotten around to writing. For her thrillers, she likes to be inspired by everyday life. This is also the case for the Grenzfall series: she got the idea from a newspaper report about a missing hiker in the town of Lenggries in the Tölz region. The proximity to the Austrian border did the rest. Set in both countries, Germany and Austria, the series features two investigators who have conflicting approaches, but must find a way to grow together as a team. Anna Schneider lives with her family near Munich.
