Two stubborn investigators, two successful authors, a joint thriller!
Karl Müller, a partner in the Düsseldorf powerhouse law firm Müller & Mahler, is found dead just days before he was due to testify about the controversial TaxEx tax-saving models developed by his firm. But not everyone believes it was suicide. Thus, the remaining partners of the firm hire private investigator Max Bischoff to probe into Müller's death. Sophie Mahler, daughter of founding partner Ernst Mahler and herself a rising criminal defense lawyer, is to assist him — much to the dismay of her law firm partner Anton Pirlo, who instantly decides he dislikes Bischoff. However, when Sophie's father himself becomes a suspect and is arrested, Pirlo takes on his defense. Suddenly, Bischoff and Pirlo find themselves on the same side — and together, they devise a daring plan...
