The New Prophets: How Economists Are Gambling Away Our Future

  • A deep-dive into the ideologies of Silicon Valley's "new prophets".
  • Critiques the utopian promises of tech-billionaires like Musk & Altman.
  • Examines the immense power these figures have on our shared future.

"We economists are far too powerful"

They sit at the centre of power, advise governments and companies, and steer the fortunes of states and institutions: economists. Their enormous influence extends from politics to our private lives; they determine our salaries and our matches on dating apps. Whether in the climate crisis or the pandemic, we place our trust in a fact-free science that knows no concept of morality or justice – and that costs human lives.

Economist Daniel Stähr presents a well-founded critique of the supremacy of his own discipline and its influence on governments and our coexistence.
