Every Child, Everywhere

Why we need children's rights to be sustainable as a society

  • Elsbeth Müller, former chair of UNICEF Switzerland, has been committed to children's rights worldwide for decades.
  • In war, in the education system, within one's own four walls: Enforcing children's rights is a political and whole-of-society task.
  • 195 states have ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, but every day children's rights are violated in every country - including Germany.

Only if we take children's rights seriously our society will have a future.

There is a consensus that children are our future – but we often forget that this future is already here among us. Whether children in Trump's America have limited access to education, are exposed to hunger and mortal danger in the wars in Gaza or Ukraine, or are becoming isolated in Western Europe due to social media, children are the most vulnerable members of our societies. In her plea, expert Elsbeth Müller emphatically shows that protecting children's rights is a collective responsibility. Implementing them is a political one.
