Babylon Berlin plus magic: a historical fantasy novel based in the Weimar Republic
Living in Berlin in the twenties is like dancing on a volcano, especially when magic courses through the streets and nightlife. A woman disappears and turns up again a little later as a stone statue. With an eagle conjured out of nowhere, Nazis chase down political opponents, and the cabaret even adds a few supernatural numbers to its wacky repertoire. And the Reichstag is deliberating on the possibility of rearming through magical means.
The young physicist Nike Wehner is not only trying to understand this new phenomenon as a scientist but is helping the Berlin police solve magical crimes. She is assisted in this endeavour by the sculptor Sandor Černý and Inspector Seidel, who is nearing retirement. Together they comprise the first special unit of a new Magic Police unit.
