A man is found in the market square next to the church - naked, rubbed in ashes from head to foot, and with a number on his forehead. In the hospital, the restaurant critic is diagnosed with extreme malnutrition. And then another person disappears from the gastronomy scene. Hannah Meyer, the tough detective from the far north who was transferred to the Alps at her own request, recognizes a connection between the crimes and the religious practices of Lent. A race against time begins, as Lent lasts three more weeks – and that's too long to survive without eating. So Hannah Meyer gets her father on board. The portly ex-commissioner should work out as a decoy. But Hannah is unexpectedly confronted with her own past – and the case becomes a real personal test for her.
